The Story Behind This Mahi Mahi

Early on the morning of Tuesday November 22, 2022, my cousin was visiting and I decided to take him fishing to show him our beautiful Pacific waters. We stopped near a floating dock just off of the coast of a set of islands called Las Catalinas where we found a group of mahi mahi.

As I was casting, I accidentally hooked the dock, so we ventured over to the dock to release my lure, and there we found a beautiful sea turtle that had a hook stuck in it's mouth. We caught the turtle and removed the hook from its mouth and set it free. It was an incredible experience being able to help this beautiful creature. (I wish I got a better photo of it, but wasn't thinking about taking pics at the moment).

After releasing the turtle, we continued casting around the floating dock and this is where I caught this mahi mahi. It's almost as if it was meant to be - we were brought to the floating dock to help the turtle and to find the mahi!

My friend and fishing buddy Gunner saw the Mahi posted on the website and he immediately said that he wanted it as he knew the perfect spot for it in his house! I was so happy that such a great fisherman wanted this beautiful gyotaku!

Thank you Gunner and congrats on the beautiful art addition to your new place! Anyone in Costa Rica looking for fishing tours, Gunner is your man! Check out his website, all of his contact info is there along with pics of his great catches CRFISHON !!
